About WWYL
The backwards letters will straighten out, the stick figures will grow bodies, the handprints will get bigger. One day, the pictures stop coming home quite so often.
When You Were Little is about keeping the “little” version of them forever.
Hello!
Hi, I’m Erin, the artist behind When You Were Little. When my daughter started bringing home artwork, I did what most parents do: I saved it. All of it. The scribbles, paintings, handprints, and little creations. It felt impossible to throw it all away. Each piece was a physical memory of that exact age and I wanted to cherish it forever.
I needed a way to keep everything, but I also knew if I stored everything in a storage bin somewhere, I would probably never look at it again unless I was searching for Christmas decorations in the attic once a year. So, I started creating.
I have always been a creator and artist, but something about this felt special…purposeful. I decided I wanted to start creating for others as well so that parents all over can preserve their little ones’ masterpieces forever.
Every piece I create is made by hand from children’s original artwork. I spend hours sorting through drawings, finding the tiny details I love, cutting individual elements, playing with color and composition, and layering everything together until hundreds of little moments become one gorgeous heirloom piece for your home.
It will feel like art, because that’s exactly what it is.
